Lilian
Viana was born in the city of
Belo
Horizonte capital of the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Born and raised in a traditional middle class family, Lilian
began at the age of eight as a hostess and newscaster on a TV
program called "Universidade Popular da Manhγ" (Popular University
in the Morning). This cultural and educational show for children
and adolescents was aired by TV Itacolomy, which became TV Tupi
and eventually merged with TV Manchete, one of the largest TV
networks in Brazil at that time.
As a singer, at a very young age, she participated in several
school and regional musical events, always attaining good results
and receiving recognition. Theater and Dance were her two other
passions in life.
TV & Radio
Because of her previous on-camera experience, Lilian has
been invited to appear in several local TV and radio productions,
sometimes as a hostess, newscaster, or as a talent for commercial
spots. She has also appeared as a guest, being interviewed many
times for her singing achievements.
In 1998, she created and hosted her own radio show, an hour
program called "Canta Brasil" (Sing Brazil). This program was
aired weekly by La Poderosaa, a South Florida AM radio station,
for approximately seven months.
The show focused on the enormous variety of Brazilian rhythms,
with a carefully selected repertoire of Brazilian songs and
artists. The idea was not only to showcase already recognized
names, but also the talent of many local Brazilian musicians,
composers and interpreters, who would very often be interviewed
live on the program. The show had a live participation segment,
where listeners could call to make comments and to request songs.
She has also been involved in a few local Brazilian TV productions,
hosting specific segments or doing external overages and interviews.
